창세기 41 : 51 - 요셉이 권좌에 앉음 요셉이 맏아들의 이름을 므낫세라 하였으니 이는 그가 말하기를, 하나님께서 나로 하여금 나의 모든 수고와 나의 아버지의 온 집을 잊게 하셨다, 하였기 때문이요, And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house.
창세기 38 : 7 - 유다와 다말 유다의 맏아들 엘이 주의 눈앞에 사악하므로 주께서 그를 죽이시니 And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD slew him.

창세기 27 : 15 - 이삭이 야곱을 축복함 리브가가 자기가 맡아 집에 둔 자기 맏아들 에서의 좋은 옷을 취하여 자기의 작은 아들 야곱에게 입히고 And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the houes, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:
