When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses's father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt: 출애굽기 17 : 16 - 아말렉을 무찌름 이는 그가 이르기를, 주께서 아말렉과 대대로 싸우리라고 주께서 맹세하셨도다, 하였기 때문이더라. For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation. 출애굽기 17 : 15 - 아말렉을 무찌름 모세가 제단을 쌓고 그것의 이름을 여호와닛시라 하였으니 And Moses built an alter; and called the name of it Jehovan-nissi: 출애굽기 17 : 14 - 아말렉을 무찌름 주께서 모세에게 이르시되, 이것을 책에 기록하여 기념으로 삼고 또 여호수아의 귀에 그것을 되풀이하여 말하라. 내가 하늘 아래에서 아말렉에 대한 기억을 철저히 없애리라, 하시니라. And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. 출애굽기 17 : 13 - 아말렉을 무찌름 여호수아가 칼날로 아말렉과 그의 백성을 무찌르니라. And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. 출애굽기 17 : 12 - 아말렉을 무찌름 그러나 모세의 손이 무거워지매 그들이 돌을 가져다가 그의 밑에 놓아 그가 그 위에 앉게 하고 아론과 홀이 하나는 이편에서 다른 하나는 저편에서 그의 손을 붙들어 올렸더니 그의 손이 해가 질 때까지 그대로 있더라. But Moses's hand were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 출애굽기 17 : 11 - 아말렉을 무찌름 모세가 손을 들면 이스라엘이 이기고 그가 손을 내리면 아말렉이 이기더라.
